Hexagonal Black Diamond Stud Earrings - Doryn Wallach

Doryn Wallach spent nearly two decades in interior design before creating her line of distinctive fine jewelry. Inspired by her professional background and her life-long passion for jewelry, Doryn's unique designs are modern interpretations of the bold geometry and vintage glamour of the Art Deco period. After receiving a degree in interior design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Doryn launched a multi-faceted career in design. She began as an assistant at the renowned interiors firm Cullman and Kravis and went on to design residential interiors in New York and Boston. She also worked as an assistant design producer on the television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The New York City-based designer has been passionate about jewelry all her life. "I used to sit on the floor of the boutique where my mother worked and sketch the jewelry in the cases," says Doryn. “I'm drawn to the history and romance of jewelry — and I love the beauty of reinvention.” Doryn had been repurposing and designing jewelry personally for many years before turning her passion into her profession. Using diamonds from an eternity band that she rarely wore, she was inspired by the architecture of the Chrysler Building to create one of her earliest professional designs, a dramatic and bold ring which has become one of her signature pieces. Many of her other statement-making pieces have been sparked by beautiful home objects of the era, from marquetry cabinets to vanity cases, from fireplace Doryn works with a range of stones, including white diamond, black diamond, black onyx, agate, turquoise, pearl, sapphire and emerald; every piece is handcrafted and set in satin gold, white gold or platinum. “I think of each piece as a modern heirloom to be passed down to a future generation.” Doryn's work has earned recognition within the industry and in the press. Doryn won the 2019 Design Excellence Award in Fine Jewelry by The Accessories Council. She was also named Emerging Designer of 2016 by Centurion Jewelry and was the recipient of the 2016 JCK Rising Stars Editor's Choice Award in Las Vegas. Doryn has been noted as "One to Watch” by Women"s Wear Daily and highlighted in "Six Designers That Will Be Huge in 2018" by The Adventurine. In addition, Doryn's work has been featured in Forbes, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair and numerous other print and online publications. Doryn is a member of JA, WJA, AGTA, JDPN, CJDG, MJSA, Accessories Council, American Society of Jewelry Historians , Female Founder Collective and The Art Deco Society. She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
